Hexys Launches on April 17
After months of building, testing, and asking hard questions about what a recovery app should actually be, Hexys is launching on the App Store on April 17, 2026.
Update — April 21, 2026: App Store review is taking a bit longer than expected, so we are running a few days behind the original launch date. TestFlight is still live in the meantime. We will update this post when we go live.
After months of building, testing, and asking hard questions about what a recovery app should actually be, we are excited to announce that Hexys is launching on the App Store on April 17, 2026.
We wanted to mark the moment with something honest rather than something polished. So here is the real version.
Why we built it
The recovery app category has a problem that almost nobody talks about. Apps in this space ask users to record their most private moments: Relapse notes, their urges and triggers, many private details in journal entries written at 2am about things they have never told another person. And then those apps store that data on servers they control, readable by their team, accessible to anyone who finds a way in.
Earlier this year, one of the most popular apps in this category exposed the intimate data of hundreds of thousands of users. Extremely sensitive data (from users emotional struggles to their personal confessions and even their most private habits) was left unprotected and eventually exposed. To make matters even worse, the vulnerability had been reported to the developers months earlier and it was left unaddressed.
We did not build Hexys solely in response to that breach, but it made the case for what we had already decided: an app asking people to be honest about their most private and vulnerable moments has to be architecturally trustworthy, not just policy-level trustworthy. A privacy policy is a promise, but encryption is a technical guarantee.
With Hexys, your sensitive data is encrypted on your device before it ever leaves your phone. We cannot read it and neither can anyone else. This is the baseline that our users deserve. That is not a feature, but rather a foundation for an app they can trust.
What we built
Hexys is a behavioral recovery platform for adults who want to build a real system around quitting pornography (and other compulsive habits) and reclaiming control over their lives. It is built around a few ideas we kept coming back to.
Recovery is identity work, not just habit tracking. The app is built around the concept of 'hexis,' an ancient Greek term Aristotle used to describe a 'stable character disposition, a habit so deeply repeated it stops being something you do and becomes who you are.' Every check-in is a deposit. Every streak day is a rep. You are not fighting a habit. You are building your Hexys that replaces the old habits.
Because we are supporting our users through such deeply personal growth, privacy is not optional. Zero-knowledge encryption means your journal content is yours. Furthermore, keeping things anonymous in the Hexys community is important, but so is engaging in supportive community. In Hexys there are three separate identities to keep your community presence, your pod, and your real self architecturally un-linkable, providing further protection.
Tools matter. Arcos provides real-time support during high-risk moments. The Help Hub surfaces breathing exercises, grounding tools, and sound therapy to help you outlast the urges. Accountability pods are a unique new feature that allows our users to support each other anonymously, putting up to five people in a private space together to help each other build their Hexys. A content blocker removes triggers at the system level and helps keep your device clean.
The streak and XP system is designed to reward the actual work of recovery, not just the absence of relapse. Because showing up after a setback counts. Because honesty in your journal counts. Because the character you are building counts.
What happens on April 17
The app goes live on the App Store for iOS. Android follows shortly after. If you haven't yet, please add yourself to the waitlist to receive special founder benefits.
We are also launching on Product Hunt that day. If you have an account and want to support the launch, find us there and leave a comment. Early momentum on Product Hunt matters a lot for a small independent app.
A note on what comes next
This is the first version. It is the version we needed to get right before we could build anything else. Our plan to to continue to expand Hexys to support multiple compulsive habits. The tentative roadmap is to focus our second module on social media and screen time detox, then expand from there - all on the same privacy architecture.
The community features will grow. The educational content library will grow. The companion will get smarter. But none of that changes on April 17, because on April 17 the foundation is already there.
We built this for the person who has tried everything else and wants something that actually takes them seriously. Something private and secure enough to be honest in. Something built around who they are becoming, not just what they are trying to stop.
See you on the 17th as you begin to build your Hexys!
